Biography of His Eminence Bongtul Tenzin Nyima Rinpoche

His Eminence Bongtul Tenzin Nyima Rinpoche was born in 1965. As a little boy he went to a local junior school and learned how to read and write. His Eminence taught himself to draw, brush Tibetan calligraphy, and paint. As he got a little older His Eminence calligraphed many lengthy religious texts like the Liberation Sutra, and Drikung Dharmapala texts. At the age of 18, His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche performed the hair-cutting ceremony and His Eminence Bongtul Rinpoche entered Lho Lungkar Gon Monastery. From Togden Drogon, a direct disciple of the former Bongtul Rinpoche,he recieved teachings on the Profound Dzogchen By-pass (Thoe-gyal), Yangzab, and Phowa teachings, and completed the 400,000 Ngondro preliminaries practices. According to Achi Chokyi Drolma's prophecy, Togden Drogon recognized His Eminence as the mind emanation of Lho Bongtul Rinpoche and announced the prophecy. By that time His Eminence had already mastered all the religious chants, rites, and rituals of the monastery. Later in life, His Eminence received the most profound teachings on the Ground, Path and Fruition, and the blessings of the continuum of Drubwang Pachung Rinpoche. From the meditation master Gelong Tenzin Nyima, a principle disciple of Pachung Rinpoche, received many profound Drikung Kagyu teachings like the Six Yogas of Naropa and the Five-fold Path of Mahamudra. His Eminence received novice ordination from Khenpo Sogtul Rinpoche of Drikung Thil who gave him the name "Konchog Tenzin Trinlay Thaye". His Holiness the Chetsang Rinpoche subsequently recognized His Eminence as the mind emanation of Lho Bongtul Rinpoche and gave him the name "Konchok Tenzin Sherab Jugney Pal-sangpo". His Eminence did a four-year retreat and other lengthy retreats on Yamantaka and Yangzab Terma practices. From Dzogchen Khenpo Thubten Namgyal, His Eminence received profound teachings on, and empowerments of the Bodhicaryavatara, Uttara Tantra, Sadhana Teachings of the Eight Pronouncements, Embodiment of Realization, Vajrakilaya, and Ridgzin Jigme Lingpa's Highest Awareness as well as many other teachings and pith instructions. In 1997 His Eminence received many teachings and empowerments from his Holiness the Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche. From His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, Dulmo Choeje, and Gyalpo Rinpoche received many teachings and empowerment on the Five Treasuries of Jamgon Kongtul Rinpoche containing the quintessential Kagyu empowerments. Once more, His Eminence went to Drikung Thil and sought the guidance of the meditation master Gelong Tenzin Nyima on specific aspects of the Six Yogas of Naropa and the Five-fold Path of Mahamudra teachings. His Eminence introduced the yearly Grand Propitiations in-cluding the Eight Pronouncements (Eight Heruka Sadhanas), the Assembly of Realization, the Embodiment of Divine Intentionality (Gong-Due), Vajrakilaya, and the Lho Lungkar Gon tradition of the Grand Mind Propitiation of the Essence of Great Bliss (Dechen Nyingpo).His Eminence also introduced the whole range of Deity Dances to his monastery. For the benefit of those interested, and seeing the needs of future generations, His Eminence composed many sadhanas (methods of practice of deities), altar arrangement, history, tour guide of sacred places of worship, Dharma songs, and others. His Eminence also recorded two audio cassettes of Dharma songs. His Eminence studied and practices Tibetan herbal medicine. In 1997 he came to Jangchub Ling Monastery in northern India, and received many profound teachings and empowerments from His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche. From time to time His Eminence guided, taught and gave empowerments of the Six Yogas of Naropa and the Five-fold Path of Mahamudra teachings to the monks and nuns of Gar Monastery, Khargo Gon Monastery, Sichuan Tsele Gon Monastery, Nyizong Gon Monastery, Gewu Gon Monastery as well as to other practitioners who were on retreat. In 1998 His Eminence rebuilt the historical stupa "Lungkar Chodten Bummo Che". Among the many signifigant accomplishments, His Eminence rebuilt Lho Lungkar Gon Monastery and retreat centers. Seeing the needs of the local population, His Eminence built a dispensary for them. He also laid the foundation for a school for local children, and very much needs and wishes help to complete it. His Eminence Bongtul Tenzin Nyima Rinpoche is a scholar, painter, doctor, singer/song writer, and above all a Drikung Kagyu Lineage master of outstanding insight, aptitude, and divine qualities.
